Finite range scattering wave function method for scattering and resonance lifetimes

A generic expression for the scattering wave function in terms of the full discrete spectral Green’s function on a finite range is used to obtain the “finite range scattering wave function (FRSW)” which is accurate over a finite range of the scattering coordinate. We show that the representation of the FRSW in a finite basis set can be used to compute the scattering matrix and related quantitie...

Numerical simulations on resonance poles - Thetrapping case of two plane cracksCarlos

In this paper a proof for the existence of acoustic resonance poles with Robin boundary conditions is presented. The analysis of the elastic crack scattering problem allows us to distinguish two types of resonance poles { normal or tangential, and we present some numerical results based on a variational boundary element method. Considering two plane cracks, we present some estimates to justify ...

Time delay and time advance in resonance theory

We propose a theory of the resonance–antiresonance scattering process which differs considerably from the classical one (the Breit–Wigner theory), which is commonly used in the phenomenological analysis. Here both resonances and antiresonances are described in terms of poles of the scattering amplitude: the resonances by poles in the first quadrant while the antiresonances by poles in the fourt...

Computer Software for Understanding Resonances and Resonance-Related Phenomena in Chemical Reactions

In numerical modelling of chemical reactions one calculates the scattering matrix for the required values of energy and angular momentum. Having done so, one still faces the non-trivial task of extracting detailed information about the reaction mechanism. We discuss the methods and numerical tools for such an analysis in terms of resonance poles and semiclassical trajectories. Our approach avoi...

Unified Scheme for Describing Time Delay and Time Advance in the Interpolation of Rotational Bands of Resonances

In this paper we show how rotational bands of resonances can be described by using trajectories of poles of the scattering amplitude in the complex angular momentum plane: each band of resonances is represented by the evolution of a single pole lying in the first quadrant of the plane. The main result of the paper consists in showing that also the antiresonances (or echoes) can be described by ...
